Sieg Sends Ballew Home Solidly in Second
Kansas City, Kansas | 04-27-2008

Shane Sieg with an 18th place finish in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Kansas Speedway sends Billy Ballew Motorsports home with a solid second place position in the 2008 championship point’s race.

Sieg substituting for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle "Rowdy" Busch started in the 16th place position for the 167 lap Craftsman Truck Series event in Kansas City, Kansas. Soon after the start Sieg reported to the crew that the No. 51 Miccosukee Resorts Toyota Tundra was tight in the corners coming down pit road under caution on lap 26 for four tires, fuel and two rounds down in the right rear.

Sieg stayed in the top-15 throughout his runs battling three wide for positions when the truck got loose on lap 51 while attempting to pass sending him into the wall causing damage to the right side of the Toyota Tundra. Crew chief Richie Wauters brought Sieg down pit road numerous times for the crew to repair the damage to the front splitter and right side fenders. The damage to the Tundra was minimal after the repairs but set Sieg back a lap restarting in the 30th place position. The misfortune of Sieg’s teammate Marc Mitchell’s accident on lap73 was actually beneficial to the No. 51 team when Sieg received the free pass to gain his spot on the lead lap.

After receiving the "Lucky Dog" putting him back on the lead lap Sieg continually moved forward reporting the truck was really good but had was a tick tight but free off the corners of the 1.5 mile tri-oval race track. Despite the damage to the truck from the earlier incident Sieg continued to run in the top-20 putting on his last set of sticker tires on lap 107. Again Sieg reported to the truck was tight giving the young driver a "push" coming out of the corners so Wauters brought the truck back down pit road for track bar and wedge adjustments on lap130.

Sieg battled to bring home a top-10 finish for the Craftsman Truck Series team running four-wide on the intermediate sized race track but was unable to gain the positions he had hoped crossing the checkered in the 18th place spot.

"I’m disappointed for this team," Sieg said. "I got a little free going for the pass and put the truck into the wall. I hate that it happened but we were still able to salvage a pretty decent spot. I have to thank Miccosukee Resorts, Billy Ballew Motorsports, Richie Wauters and Kyle Busch for giving me the opportunity to drive their truck. This team has top notch equipment and it was a lot of fun out there."

Due to scheduling conflicts with NASCAR national series events at Talladega, Busch was unable to compete in the fifth race of the 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event and losing the driver points lead. Busch now sits in the third place position 130 points out of the lead. Billy Ballew Motorsports also lost its lead in the owner point’s championship. Ballew only sits 21 points out of the lead, a difference the team plans on making up at the next race at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway May 16, 2008.

Busch will be back behind the wheel of the No.51 Miccosukee Resorts Tundra for the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway Friday, May 16, 2008.
