Final NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Testing Notes:
Daytona Beach, Fl | 01-13-2008

After two full days of testing for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season opener February 15, 2008 at the Daytona International Speedway, Kyle Busch and the Billy Ballew Motorsports team have high expectations for the annual event.

Although times on single runs weren’t as strong on day one of the test, the team was able to gain momentum in the draft both Friday and Saturday at the famed 2.66-mile tri-oval. Crew chief Richie Wauters and Busch worked on the truck to gain speed on the track.

"We struggled at first," Busch said. "But we are doing pretty well in drafting. We’ll head back to the shop, look at the data and make the adjustments we need for the race."

Busch, who was fastest in the first round of testing in the Car of Tomorrow NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car in his new ride for Joe Gibbs Racing, noted some differences and similarities in the two machines.

"They’re quite a bit different, (NASCAR Sprint Cup car/ Craftsman Truck)," Busch said. "Yet they have some similarities, too. The grip level with the race track between here and Talladega is a lot different, and the Cup Series car and the truck both slide around here. You don’t want to be too loose, because you can get sucked around and spun out. You also want to have a good-handling truck, though."

Busch was exonerated from the accusation of causing the day one testing incident after the tape was reviewed and explains what he saw go on with the No. 6 and No. 09 trucks.

"There were about five or six of us, and we were pretty spread out. There were three of them that went by me, and I pulled in line, with two of them coming up behind me in turns one and two. We made it all the way around to the tri-oval. The No. 6 (Colin Braun) was leading it, and the No. 09 (Joey Clanton) was trying to pass him on the outside. He was doing a side-draft on him. He got within the air that comes off the front of the nose and it looked like it pulled him into the No. 6. When they touched, they both steered up towards the wall."

"Side drafting is when somebody gets on the right-rear quarter panel like that -- and you see that a lot --we all spin out. The inside truck spins out when somebody faster is coming from the outside. The No. 09 got the No. 6 a little loose, which made him feel like he got lifted up from behind. It was just him getting loose."

Busch will be piloting the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota Tundra in numerous events sharing the ride with another NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series driver, David Stemme.

The season opener if for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is slated for Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Daytona International Speedway. For more information on Billy Ballew Motorsports and Kyle Busch visit www.BillyBallewMotorsports.com and www.KyleBuch.com.
