SUTTON HEADS TO SECOND SHORT TRACK OF 2007 SEASON
Mansfield, OH | 05-23-2007
Kelly Sutton heads to the second short track race of the 2007 season for the running of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ohio 250 at the Mansfield Motorsports Park on Saturday, May 26, 2007. Sutton is one of only 10 drivers to compete in all three prior events at the half-mile short track and is eighth in total laps completed at the track out of the 73 drivers that have competed in prior years. Sutton has also completed 749 of the 756 laps run, and driven 374.5 of the total 378-miles run by the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers. Sutton has completed more laps at the track then such competitors as Mike Skinner, Terry Cook and teammate Bill Lester.
Sutton, who has paid her dues at the short tracks over her career in the Craftsman Truck Series, sits in the best equipment of her career as she takes the wheel of the No. 51 Team COPAXONE® (glatiramer acetate injection) Chevrolet Silverado fielded by Billy Ballew Motorsports. Billy Ballew Motorsports also fields the No.15 Craftsman Truck piloted by Bill Lester.
“I really like going to Mansfield,” Sutton said. “I like Mansfield because the fans there are great. The race sells out every year and they keep adding more seating. The people there are so supportive and the Craftsman Truck Series puts on a good show for the fans. The track itself is a lot like the track I started racing on in Manassas Va. I'm excited to be running the No. 51 Team COPAXONE® (glatiramer acetate injection) Silverado at Mansfield and to have the opportunity to work with Billy Ballew Motorsports. Last year we finished 21st on the lead lap and I'm hoping to finish in the top-15 this year.”
Sutton’s best start at the Mansfield Motorsports Park is 26th in 2006 and a best finish of 20th at the inaugural race in 2004. Billy Ballew Motorsports has one top-five start and one top-five finish at the track, both in 2005.
The 250 lap, 125-mile race is slated to begin at 1:30 pm ET Saturday, May 26th. Fox will broadcast the event live beginning at 1:00 pm ET with MRN and their affiliate stations’ coverage beginning at 1:30pm ET.
