Mike Wallace to Pilot No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Entry at Talladega Superspeedway
Mooresville, NC | 09-08-2006

Billy Ballew, owner of Billy Ballew Motorsports, announces veteran driver Mike Wallace will pilot the No. 15 Chevrolet for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ inaugural running at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Saturday, October 7. The St. Louis, Mo. native also has plans to compete in the NEXTEL Cup race the same weekend which will keep him quite busy, but will also provide him with plenty of opportunities to gain experience. Wallace will become Billy Ballew Motorsports’ fourth different driver this year in the No. 15 Chevrolet.

“We’re excited to have Mike (Wallace) with us for the Talladega race,” said Ballew. “Mike’s record on the superspeedways is phenomenonal, so it’s been proven to me that he knows how to get around places like Talladega. I know the caliber of this team and we’re definitely strong enough to be a contender. With Mike behind the wheel, I’m sure we can get the job done and bring home a good finish.”

“I’m excited to drive the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Chevrolet with Richie Wauters as the crew chief,” said Wallace. “The truck has shown that it’s competitive, and I am looking forward to taking the experience I’ve had on restrictor plate tracks and making it translate into success for the Billy Ballew Motorsports team.

Wallace was a good pick for the BBM team, as he has had prior success at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. Wallace has won at Talladega Superspeedway once before in an ARCA race and has picked up the victory at DIS, a track similar to Talladega, on three occasions, including the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ first event at the facility.

“We’re definitely excited about our chances at a victory with Mike Wallace at Talladega,” continues Ballew. “It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase not only this team’s talent, as well as Mike’s, but also that of a great sponsor for this No. 15 Chevrolet. It’s a race that a lot of people will tune in to watch. Everyone loves the superspeedway, restrictor-plate racing, and with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series hosting their first event at Talladega, it’s going to be some fierce, door-to-door racing that we would love to share with any interested individuals.”

The Talladega Superspeedway hosts the inaugural event for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Saturday, October 7. Activities will get underway starting on Thursday, October 5 when the trucks take to the track for the first practice session. Qualifying will be held on Friday, October 6 with the trucks taking the green flag on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. local time.
